Beverley Mason’s exhibition presents an array of colour-mad, Magic Realist paintings based on myths, fairytales, literature and culture. She uses imagery from circus, burlesque, theatre and costume and takes inspiration from creatives as disparate as Cocteau, Klimt, Schiele, Blake, Bakst and northern renaissance painters. Mixing erotic femininity, symbolism, pop culture and fashion, Seduced Girl’s Circus examines the artist’s long held love of baroque visual adventures.
